World class waterfowl hunting is available from the end of September and continues through mid-February. Located in the heart of the prairie pothole region, numerous species of ducks breed and nest amongst our 26 private sloughs and ponds. During the fall they feed in the abundant grain fields and food plots. You can usually expect to shoot mixed bags of mallards, teal, gadwall, widgeon, and pintails. The Warne Ranch is well known for its managed wetlands and flooded food plots that are kept open throughout the winter with our free-flowing hot artesian wells.

Starting around the first of November, thousands of migrating Snows, Speckle Bellies and Canada Geese also pass through this area and winter on the four major state waterfowl refuges surrounding the ranch. Over 650,000 geese spend most of the fall and winter here roosting in the open waters along the Missouri river and feeding in and around our harvested grain fields. This provides fantastic goose hunting opportunites through mid-February. Waterfowl hunts can be combined with the pheasant hunt, hunting both in the same day. Guaranteed 3-day non-resident waterfowl licenses are available for our area, the unit is NRW-00X.
